Rating: Plus mPowered Brands and other conference updates
When GoMo News handed out free passes to MWC 2011 (Mobile World Congress) courtesy of RIM/BlackBerry last year they were snapped up like hot cakes. Sadly, the GSMA is apparently only giving away a single pass to MWC 2012 in a competition. You’ve got to hurry because the closing date is February 6th . This news came as the show organiser announced updates to the conference programme which includes more than 30 focused conference sessions. Buried away in a huge tronche of recent announcements from the GSMA is a new initiative for the next Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 called mPowered Brands. The organisers claim that this new platform is designed to accelerate marketers’ knowledge and use of mobile advertising. Effectively another ‘event within an event’ mPowered Brands will encompass a mobile marketing-centric exhibition. Plus there will be theatres where marketers and service providers can share their capabilities, solutions and insights with a targeted audience. The next bit is great. The third side to mPowered is the Mobile Ambassador programme. The GSMA describes it as, “An immersive mobile industry education experience focused on preparing marketing agencies to navigate and maximise their client’s Mobile World Congress experience.” Of course this all takes place in the new Mobile World Capital – Barcelona, of course.
