Rating: Mention on breakfast show promotes iPhone app
Here’s a successful way to get your iPhone app promoted. Get it mentioned on your local radio station. That’s what happened with Couple Talk written by a Wokingham counsellor, Paul Cockayne. The iPhone app got a star mention on the breakfast show at Radio Jackie which covers North Surrey and South West London. The only snag was that the DJs didn’t mention how you could get the app. Luckily GoMo News has tracked it down. You can purchase it for £1.49 from here.The app is aimed that couples who’ve been together so long that they have forgotten the art of conversation. Another two free BlackBerry apps trickle out
Rating: We give thumbs down to Nobex Radio Premium
The trickle of free apps from RIM as part of its ‘Thank You Gift’ programme continues. You can now download two new free apps to BlackBerry. One of them is Nobex Radio Premium from Nobex Technologies. Apparently worth $9.99, RIM says that its “free of charge for a limited time.” The other is Photo Editor Ultimate from Ice Cold Apps. That still brings the genuine total of apps been made available to nine. Even by RIM’s own deadline which mysteriously expanded to six weeks from four weeks, there’s still three apps to go. We make them two games from Gameloft – N.O.V.A. and Texas Hold’em Poker 2 ; plus iSpeech Translator Pro – from iSpeech.org. If you want to check RIM’s own statement on the subject – it’s here. Shazam adds LyricPlay to iOS and Android but not BlackBerry

In an effort to bolster the popularity of its music recognition app, Shazam has just added extra functionality to the free version of its app. The facility – known as LyricPlay – allows the handset user to view lyrics in real-time as a recognised track is being played. The company saysthis facility has now been added to of its free and paid apps on iPhone, iPod touch and Android-powered devices. It’s great – when you can get it to work. However, GoMo News is a little puzzled as to why this facility hasn’t been extended to other mobile OS. Especially the BlackBerry version? Is that because RIM has just released the previously paid-for Shazam Encore as part of its freeThank You gift apps, we wonder? Continue reading
