Next Tizen showcase in China not Russia

And the Samsung Z has a Qualcomm not an Intel processor

It seems that the The Tizen Developer Conference held this week [June 2014] in San Francisco, USA was such a success they’ve decided to hold another one. The 2nd Tizen Developer Summit 2014 will be held in Shanghai, China some time in October [2014]. That’s about as much information as is currently available. So keep looking here. To GoMo News this seems a rather odd choice of location given that about that time the Samsung Z – the first ever handset running Tizen, will actually go on sale in Russia. Why not hold it in Moscow? June 2nd 2014. Following Samsung’s launch of its first Tizen smartphone (Samsung Z), which many have speculated will be targeted squarely at emerging markets, new research from mobile marketing specialists Upstream has found that consumers in developing markets are calling for the handset to more readily provide relevant, localised content and services as well as more appropriate payment mechanics and pricing models. Upstream’s new research, which polled the views of a representative sample of 4,504 consumers in Brazil, China, India, Nigeria and Vietnam in conjunction with analyst house Ovum, features in its latest report entitled The Next Mobile Frontier. Tizen mobile OS 101: Understanding Tizen’s origins

Rating: Yet another mobile OS – this one backed by Samsung and intel

Whilst Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS continue to dominate the mobile OS scene, there are still a number of alternatives vying for attention in the mobile sector. One of these is Tizen which – like Google’s Chrome and H-P’s webOS all use Webkit and a Linux kernel. By contrast, Mozilla’s Firefox (see here) has its own runtime environment in terms of Geko not Webkit. Where has Tizen sprung from? Well it’s really a joint effort by Intel and Samsung which spearhead the Technical Steering Group (TSG) which leads the Tizen Project.
