SnapTags apps for iOS and Android are US only

You’d have thought that if you genuinely believe you have a technology that could knock QR codes into a cocked hat, then you might not be just US-centric. Sadly this is the case with SpyderLynk and its SnapTag technology. Its latest announcement concerning Momentum deploying SnapTags for a back-to-school mobile campaign with Office Depot contained this phrase: – “For iPhone and Android users who like scanning, SpyderLynk offers a free app to scan SnapTags.” Unlike other so-called news sites, GoMo News doesn’t just reprint the Press release. No, we took the company at its word and decided to take a look at its Apple and Android apps. SpyderLynk – it’s all about aesthetics with SnapTag

Following on from our story here on SpyderLynk and its use of SnapTags to promote the Coors brand in a SuperBowl promotion, we had a very interesting email from SpyderLynk’s PR advisors containing a ‘clarification’. SpyderLynk’s use of embedded logos isn’t just a matter of aesthetics, it’s patent pending. The news came as a shock to this GoMo News hack given a story I had written for a US publication about Tagnition which had created a niche for itself creating logos embedded in standard QR codes.
