Consumers have no faith in mobile broadband - but is that fair?
Results from independent comparison site Broadband Genie indicate that the public think mobile broadband is awful. 64% of respondents said that their broadband connection didn’t live up to their expectations. But, as we reported recently, that’s probably because unscrupulous advertising is setting those expectations unrealistically high.
Brave new mobile advertising creep from 3 UK
Those who connect to the web with a USB modem (or dongle) will be familiar with the “dashboard”. Most operators have one - it’s a little interface that pops up when you plug your modem in. 3 UK has decided it will start selling advertising on that dashboard. While that does guarantee an ad will get seen by the approx. 1 million mobile broadband users 3 has, it will require a major redesign of the interface. Because the way it is right now, no one in their right mind would want to buy ad space there.
4G mobile internet update: LG reveals its first commercial LTE modem
Mobile manufacturer LG Electronics has unveiled the fist commercial LTE modem in the world - although it won’t really have anything to run on until next year. The 4G modem was shown off during the ComunicAsia 2009 expo in Singapore.
