Rating: trillion on the way

The billionaires’ reception was a high octane, champagne-fuelled event at the Kingly Club in Soho, London, to celebrate Tegic’s deployment in 2 billion devices.

The mobile search analyst found itself there to celebrate the success of AOL-owned Tegic and talk to two leaders in the AOL/Tegic space, Eric Collins Vice President of Sales and Bill Schweble Senior Vice President Wireless Group. I did a podcast with Bill to mark the event. (Listen here) and captured a short presentation from Eric Collins (here) on the new XT9 Mobile Interface.

Best of all though, I learned that AOL and Tegic are not simply predictive text: Tegic has the potential to be a goldmine.
We all know that AOL dominates mobile instant messaging (IM). We also know that AOL is playing catch-up in the mobile search space and that many white label search providers have been copying and borrowing from predictive text to assist mobile search discovery. If AOL has the nous to put them all together, we could finally get that explosion in mobile search that we’ve all been waiting for. Listen for the boom.
