The Software company Telcordia has teamed up with mPortal.
Why?
mPortal is a provider of mobile content and applications which are and have been embraced by the MVNO market. Telcordia provides a hosted solution and technology for the MVNO market. Now Telcordia will enhance its hosted services with the mPortal SPINGBOARD Content Delivery Manager.
What does this mean for MVNOs?
Basically; from now on any MVNO that signs up with Telcordia also gets off the shelf content from mPortal – so a pre-made mobile portal as well.
So What?
Data MVNO’s hardly exist and creating a mobile portal solution on top of creating voice service is often a headache for the new MVNO. With Telcordia and mPortal MVNOs’ benefit from a “plug in” style portal full of the latest content. This means a rich multi-media experience for consumers from day one.

What we think?
We have met mPortal a couple of times and we like them. This is a great “growth” step away from the Disney services that made a name for mPortal initially.
From the press release
“With 13 hosted MVNO customers worldwide so far, Telcordia understands what MVNOs need to be successful: a wide range of compelling content based on a niche market that will drive revenue and serve as a market differentiator,” said Mala Chandra, President, Service Delivery Solutions, Telcordia. “mPortal’s client, platform and content, paired with the Telcordia Hosted Solution for MVNOs, gives operators a turnkey, end-to-end mobile content service delivery solution that is unmatched.”
“As data services continue to flourish in the United States, we are excited to be working with Telcordia and be part of the Telcordia Hosted Solution offering,” said DP Venkatesh, CEO and founder of mPortal. “The ability to offer differentiated mobile content and applications in easy-to-discover, download and purchase models, is a key requirement for service providers. By partnering with Telcordia, mPortal enables MVNOs to launch a differentiated mobile content and application leveraging creative charging models with minimal upfront investment and a pay-as-you-grow model.”
