Telecom Italia launches Mobile Barcodes FlashMe!
TIMor Telecom Italia Mobile has launched a new mobile barcode initiative. The service is nicely named “flash me“.
What is it?
Using Scanbuyas the vendor mobile barcode reader will be deployed in 11 mobile devices and is basically picture barcode capture service. Mobile content will be promoted as mobile barcodes for one click picture capture access.

What we think?
I love the name. Thank God for the Italians! The emphasis on this new promotion isn’t on the code or the barcode but its the excitement of capture with a unique title “flash me”.
I really like the young focused take on this.
Again though to put every mobile barcode service or initiative on the basis level - there needs to be lots and lots of mobile barcodes avaialble to make this a success and some consumer education.

But what about the Neomedia patent on using barcodes : U.S. Patent No. 6,199,048 , System And Method For Automatic Access Of A Remote Computer Over A Network
You bring up an excellent point Peter.
Telecom Italia is using Scanbuy’s proprietary EZcode. Thus within NeoMedia’s global patent foot print.
