Telefonica rolls out mobile advertising in Spain with Amobee Media Systems

Now, I haven’t heard from Amobee  for ages. But following on from an agreement last year, Telefonica Spain is using Amobee for mobile advertising.
From the press release:

“Telefónica is a great example of a mobile operator taking control of advertising revenues on its network and, in the process, ensuring a positive customer experience,” said Zohar Levkovitz, CEO of Amobee. “That, in our opinion, is the future of mobile advertising and it is made possible by Amobee. We enable the operator to build a profitable revenue stream from advertising, while giving advertisers an exciting channel to reach their target audience.”

“Our customers’ experience is of paramount importance to us, and was our first priority in considering a mobile advertising solution,” said Susana Rodríguez Urgel, On-Line Channels and Mobile Commerce Manager, Telefónica. “We chose Amobee because of its ability to provide a relevant mobile advertising experience for our users.”

What we think?

How things change. A few years ago when both Vodafone and Telefonica purchased a stake in Amobee. At the time, the impression in the air was that Vodafone was smitten and Telefonica slightly peeved…

but two years later. Vodafone is sleeping around with every mobile advertising company in the world and Telefonica gets all serious with Amobee.

But, Telefonica is also no virgin. It was playing around with JumpTap before the company pulled out of Europe and has trialled several mobile advertising solutions.

With a stake in Amobee – Telefonica has everything to play for – so lets see how this develops.  I am in Spain next month and will buy a SIM and check out the services.
