TELUS adds the HTC Touch Dual with Qix for Windows Mobile
Another day another Qix deal. No wonder dominant Nuance wanted to buy the company and is now taking it to court.
But anyway – the mobile input discover service Qix is on Telus HTC devices.
From the press release:
Branded TELUS Quick Find, Zi Corporation’s Qix is being introduced to North American consumers for the first time on the HTC Touch Dual. Qix for Windows Mobile 6.1 allows users to access the device’s content and features simply and intuitively, without having to remember where and how to locate them. A complement to the traditional menu system, Qix allows users to find contacts, applications, bookmarks, music and other device content by entering real words on their keypads or keyboards.
Milos Djokovic, President and CEO of Zi Corporation, said “This is a significant milestone for Zi and Qix. Both TELUS and HTC are respected brands in the mobile telephony space and this first device could open the door to mass-market deployment of Qix.”
Stephen Ospalak, TELUS vice-president of Mobile and Future Friendly Home Devices, said “TELUS is proud to bring Zi Corporation’s solution to its clients. We are confident that Qix will enable us to continue to enhance our end users’ experience and bolster the loyalty of our ever-expanding customer base.”
What we think?
I quizzed Nuance but failed to get answers on this (but some interesting other stuff – report soon from CTIA). But I should be on the phone to Milos from Zi Corp next week and would love to get his view on the whole market. More soon.
