The Filter: extends mobile music recognition to the Nokia E60, N93 and N80

Rating: Sledgehammer for true mobile music download freaks only

For those that don’t know The Filter is a music recommendation mobile service that is backed by Peter Gabriel.
The Filter makes navigating mobile phone music simple. Users download their tracks and hit an artist or song title and The Filter automatically creates a play list from the track.

We like it. We don’t have a compatible phone but just downloaded it to the PC. Installation is simple, but the fact that I only have 6 music tracks saved on my PC all by the same artist means that testing it is a bit tough.

The Filter and recommendation engines for music is ideal for music lovers. Basic music fans, such as myself, can see the potential but won’t necessarily rave about it.

From the press release:
The Filter will also be re-launching their website to coincide with the release of The Filter Mobile. The new site will give the user a bespoke “My Filter” page - with personal recommendations for songs and artists, plus biographies, pictures and videos (from You Tube). You can also generate a wish list where you can save albums you have been recommended and would like to buy – perfect for friends when your birthday comes around.
