A new partnership with Third Screen Media will leverage mobile advertising into the new VSearch mobile search service.

The good news: Voice Signal is a speech to text convertor so the adverts are received in written form – the mobile search will not shout back at consumers.

The bad news: This is just simply adding mobile advertising to search queries. Users use voice to find a service and the results will be riddled with apparently relevant adverts. So its nothing really new.

More good news: VSearch is free and embedded into a number of mass market mobile devices already so there is not extra – download and services can be used instantly.

More bad news: Its not clear whether or not the search service is free and likely mobile data charges will need to be paid for by the consumer. This means that consumers will be paying to view mobile advertising.

From the press release:
In making this announcement, Rich Geruson VoiceSignal’s CEO said, “There is no easier way to get local information from your phone, VSearch changes the game. We are extremely excited to be partnering with industry leaders like Third Screen Media to bring this ad-supported, free product to consumers.”

“We are excited to partner with VoiceSignal in delivering a more relevant mobile experience to the mobile subscriber,” said Tom Burgess CEO, Third Screen Media. “VoiceSignal’s free local search service adds a significant new dimension of highly targeted inventory to our TSM|Network advertising partners.”
