Twitter funding and Google says Android is not delayed

Two articles from moconews this morning. Both on topics that might be interesting to our readers, but I don’t specifically write upon.  Twitter funding and Google says Android is not delayed.

Tricia Duryee writes: Google’s (NSDQ: GOOG) Android platform is probably on time—that is, if you define “during the second-half of this year” as the very last few days of December. Google is denying that its mobile operating system is facing any delays after it was reported on Sunday that the Google-backed mobile OS was having trouble integrating the platform between handset makers and operators. The report said that the original launch with T-Mobile USA was scheduled for second half of this year, but has now been delayed to late Q4. Today, Google insists everything is on track with product launches expected in the second half of the year, reports The Independent. “We are on schedule and we’re very excited to see the momentum continuing to build behind the Android platform among carriers, manufacturers, developers and consumers,” a spokeswoman told the paper.

Joseph Weisenthal writes: Finally Twitter announces its funding. The popular microblogging/messaging service says its newest investors are Spark Capital and Jeff Bezos, via his Bezos Expeditions fund. That Spark was participating was already known, though Bezos’ participation is a surprise. Past backers Union Square Ventures and Tokyo-based Digital Garage also re-upped. The size of the round was not disclosed, though we and others have reported it at $15 million, with a sub-$100 million valuation. In total, the company’s funding comes to $20 million, as it raised about $5 million last year.
In a blog post, Twitter’s Biz Stone says the funding will address two of the company’s biggest question marks: reliability and the lack of a business model. Even today, the site has been overloaded and unusauble off and on, though its been awhile since a huge outage. So the money will go towards talent and infrastructure.

What we think?

I am sure Google said that Vodafone live! search in the UK run by Google wasn’t delayed and it came out about nine months later.

With Twitter, as a frustrated user - putting money in the infrastructure is a very good move!
