TXTBig allows video communication
Rating: yeah baby
GoMo news puts TxtBIG! on the radar. The company runs a WAP and online site that allows users to add video clips to text messages and then them from PC or mobile. Owned by Sparrowhawk Media, TxtBIG! Allows users to download video but believes that its strength is that it allows users to send video in order to enhance communication.
For example on Valentine’s Day 2006, 120 million text messages where sent as opposed to 12 million cards. According to Sparrowhawk this provews that mobile is the new media and consumers demand more creative content… which is what TxtBIG! Offers.
The DRM issue seems to be resolved as TXTBIG! Create its own content which can be received by sending an SMS to 82299.
“The TxtBIG! service breaks new ground in mobile video communication,” said Derek Evans, Managing Director of TxtBIG! “Whether it’s ‘Congratulations’, ‘You’re Dumped’, ‘I Love You’ or fun sporting banter, TxtBIG! provides an enhanced message for each and every occasion and will appeal to anyone who uses texts as a form of communication.”
TxtBIG! clips will be priced at a competitive 50p per clip to drive volume, and users will be billed through Bango’s billing system.
Warning: TxtBIG claims that it has an easy to add “my Friends” section for mobile recipients using a WAP session. We know that this is not as easy as it sounds and predict that the main source of traffic for TxtBIG will be on the Internet and not solely mobile in the mid-term.
