Valiant but dismal efforts have been made by police to stop the riots in London and across the UK over the past three days. I watch and read the news with disgust. Especially, when I see my local town, Ealing Broadway struck by flames.
The riots show how multiculturalism is strong in the UK and that the gangsters are of all colours and races. But it also shows a common discontent with the youth in the UK.
So, what can “we” the mobile community do to help? I mean come on we have all this great technology and SMS can be sent instantly – something needs to happen.
This is not mindless violence and groups are using Twitter to organise gatherings. But mobile had been around longer than Twitter and we can also fight back using messaging or imaging to track and catch these criminals.
1. How about an anonymous SMS a hooligan service
2. Picture a criminal and send it to the police station
3. Emergency looting alert service
4. Mobile Marketing Association can you help in any way?
I urge someone to stand up and take action on this. Please don’t be as lethargic as the holiday-making leadership of Britain.
