Unkasoft: Video mobile ad-game with a real mission
Rating: peace up

At MEM07 last week, I bumped into a lovely man Juan Antonio from a Spanish company called Unkasoft. When he told me that he was in the mobile ad-funded game business I immediately said, “oh no! Not another one”. But he said that Unkasoft was different.
Over the past week, I have been chatting to Juan and you better believe it, Unkasoft is different. The Spanish start-up has created a mobile game with Oxfam. The game tells the story of Aissa a refugee woman who faces different challenges in her life to survive.
Aissa must do things in the game such as cross minefields to reach a refugee camp threatened by guerrilla or search for food and water.
So where is the ad-funded?

Well basically if anyone plays or downloads the game the funds raised with the downloads of the videogame (cost EUR 2.40) go to humanitarian aid programs run by Intermon Oxfam.
What we think?
Juan is a young good looking guy but he speaks of Darfur and Oxfam with a passion and this just warms GoMo News. It’s great to know that people still do care and mobile games can help to make a difference.
I believe this particular mobile game is available only in Spain but all mobile operators and services providers globally should be looking to include it on their portfolio. As part of GoGreenMo our attempt save the world via mobile we hope to partner with Unkasoft to distribute these kind of games via GoMo News in the future.
