UpCode and Yedioth Ahronoth – Interactive Media for Mobile Access
UpCode provides mobile barcodes called Ycodes to Israel media company UpCode.
I am reading the latest press release from UpCode and thinking to myself – it is very poorly written. For example, “Several solutions have been integrated, and is not limited to hyperlinks but is catered more to advanced solutions like CRM and mobile payment solutions”.
What on earth does that mean?
I think it means the new Ycodes services based around barcodes which will be printed in all of Yedoith’s papers will be interactive. They will serve not only to enable interaction with a mobile device but instant interaction back to the magazine or paper via online. Furthermore, there is not just one service but several services are available.
From the press release:
Assaf Avrahami, CEO of Yedioth Information Technology, states: “Yedioth has installed a multifunctional mobile information system powered by UpCode. Our intention is to be a media leader in applying advanced information technologies and we see a great potential in UpCode Mobile Access and Interaction Platform (MAI) ™”.
Sture Udd CEO for UpCode Ltd. states, “We are excited to include the Yedioth Ahronoth to our growing global arsenal and our UpCode ‘Mobile Access and Interaction’ Platform (MAI)™.We believe that this is the start of many new and compelling ways for the media industry. ” Mr. Udd also states, we have now officially enabled and furthered the many possibilities of interactivity when utilizing UpCode. Yedioth makes it now possible to interact with their customers and give them choice, convenience and control.
What we think?
Yikes. Keep it simple we are talking mobile barcodes and interaction here – if I don’t get the press release who will?
But back to the point. This is good news for UpCode. I will need to see the types of services though as so far it seems that Ycodes are just branded mobile barcodes and little else – despite all the jargon.
