Rating: get into the groove boy I want to prove my love to youuuuu….

UpSNAP is teaming up with Sound Choice to offer mobile karaoke. Using SMS mobile phone users can text Karaoke to UPSNAP (27627) and sing away. There are a number of songs to choose from Bob Dylan to Gloria Gaynor.

From the press release:“With a simple text message and no complicated downloads, mobile phone users can sing and dance along to their favorite Sound Choice Karaoke Track,” said Tony Philipp, UpSNAP’s CEO. “No matter where you are or the time of day, crooning along to your favorite tunes is a snap.”

What we think
This is a fun way of singing along to popular tunes and tracks – but the problem starts when people have to start paying. USD 1.99 per month to sing into a phone is still a lot when singing in the bath or shower is free. Its not clear if the karaoke is saved for playback or can be listed to by other users. Also there is a words issue – how will consumers know the words in the song? There is no screen display?
All in all this is a fun service but one that can grow and expand. Mobile is all about voice and audio and if positioned correctly mobile karaoke could take off.

If you love karaoke and the new hit show The Singing Bee, you have to check out i-Sing! A special Singing Bee version of i-Sing™ will be making its debut before the big holiday season. i-Sing™ is an interactive portable handheld karaoke player which allows its user to play music, display lyrics, sing, and record all at the same time! The best part is that it not only displays lyrics, but it drastically reduces/eliminates the lead vocals. Check it out at http://www.i-sing.com
