Vee Telecom gets on board WiMAX with Motorola and Clearwire, aims for one million users

Taiwan telecoms company Vee Telecom Multimedia has announced a WiMAX network. A trial of the new network will begin in September, with a full launch planned before the end of the year.

Motorola will be providing the bulk of the central office equipment and base stations for the new network. At the same time, Vee has signed on with Clearwire global alliance partner program for WiMAX, which will provide Vee with advice and consultation on infrastructure, equipment, services, testing and certification.

This brings the total number of Clearwire WiMAX operator parters to six

What we think?

If you’re going to do it, do it with the experts! With Clearwire and Motorola providing a double-whammy of consultancy and technical know-how, I’d say you’ll see WiMAX networks begin to bloom with the same speed as 3G.
