Checks and corrects video files for multiple screens including mobile
We’ve just come across a neat British company called Vidchecker whose product should interest our readers. Especially those in mobile advertising. GoMo News has been networking at an event hosted by The Digital TV Group (DTG) in Vauxhall, London. It was held in association with the ICT KTN, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and the IET in the run up to the IBC Exhibition to be held in Amsterdam next week [13-17th September 2013]. [Enough acronyms, thanks. Ed.]In a nutshell, VidChecker’s software checks that video and audio has been formatted correctly so that it will run on a device’s screen properly.
The software was actually developed for the broadcast industry where content creators had been checking video manually for run errors.
So it’s an automated quality control package capable of checking the overall file, video and audio parameters in file-based media.
Using the latest software technology, it automatically takes advantage of multi-core and multi-thread processors to process multiple files simultaneously and quickly.
Its Check ‘n’ Correct functionality not only checks file, video and audio parameters but can also automatically apply ’intelligent automated correction’ to video parameters that are out of specification.
One useful by-product of this product, as VidCheck CEO, Thomas Dove, explained to GoMo News is that it could check that adverts – intended for TV would also run successfully on smartphone and tablet screens.
Better still, because adverts tend to be short in length, those employing it to check their content would need to utilise VidCheck’s full suite of software.
Given that some advertising agencies have taken to making their own adverts for the ‘smaller’ screens, they can find out immediately if any mistakes have been made which would result in poor performance on a smartphone or tablet.
We’re sure VidCheck would be more than happy to explain how agencies could deploy its software.
