Virgin Mobile is giving away 300 free tickets, via customers’ mobile phones, to see The Automatic in concert this Sunday at Carling Academy in London. Tickets will be allocated on a first text, first serve basis.

This follows the recent launch of Q Jump a mobile loyalty campaign powered by ActiveMedia and Flytxt enabling Virgin Mobile customers to jump the queue using mobile ticketing technology. ActiveMedia’s portable mobile ticketing platform enables promoters, sponsors and bands to sell or give-away tickets, regardless of location, without additional investment in new technology for each venue. Flytxt provides the SMS element, working together with ActiveMedia’s RAPOS technology

It’s a mystery that mobile ticketing isn’t more prevalent and not only viewed as appealing to yoof. It’s an incredibly convenient way of getting to the opera as well as The Automatic and the baby boomers have a lot more money to spend. Do we need to say anything about the canny choice of band for the giveaway? Just soooo Virgin.
