Vodacom South Africa launches new mobile advertising initiative
Rating: mobile advertising, man
We wrote about this at length in the last Mobile Search Analyst – but convergence, advertising and search is finally the new black.
Now South Africa’s Vodacom has announced the launch of a new mobile ad initiative. It (of course) will target only relevant ads.
This launch follows a trial with Nike which resulted in 84,000 content download and 9,200 survey responses.
What we think?
We spoke at length to one of Nike’s major competitors about its on device portal strategy and mobile advertising campaign. They preferred not to be mentioned but the sports manufacturer claims very similar results in a campaign in North America but interesting said it was its own brand that made the campaign a success and size or the mobile operator didn’t matter as brands are key to mobile advertising and not networks.
