Vodafone Germany launches Handy 2.0 (Mobile 2.0) today in Germany. Basically it’s what Vodafone UK pushed last week – the WWW on its mobile portal Vodafone live!

It comes with a flat rate for EUR 9.95 per month on top of existing services and charges. This is not great as the small print says that the new flat rate is available to existing Vodafone Happy live! users. Happy live offers all surfing on live for EUR 4.95 per month. This means that anyone signing up for the new Handy 2.0 will be paying near EUR15 per month for a internet flat rate – which is actually a promotion rate until 31.10.2007.

Once again hidden costs and high charges could hamper the success of this tariff. Also, Novarra is back in the spotlight again as its services are touted once more in the press release and let’s see if there is any backlash in the German market – or if all those problems (that no one owned up to) cause a stir again.
But there is one beneficial special offer. Anyone that signs up for the flatrate with a new contract will receive EUR 50 for free. But at the start of the promotion optimal services are only available on hight end handsets such as: Nokia E65, N70, N73, N95, Motorola V3, V980, Sasung U700, ZV60, D900i, SonyEricsson K750i and SonyEricsson K800i.
