Vodafone says YES to the iPhone

by: Bena Roberts Monday, May 5th, 2008

Vodafone today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the  globe. Later this year, Vodafone customers in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network.

What we think?

Apple might have its demands that do seem aggressive for revenue share with the iPhone. But as a user myself, my Internet use on mobile has quadrupled. I also watch video on mobile and use content services (not daily) but hourly.

The iPhone is what operators need to drive the uptake of the mobile Internet. I have the N95 and the iPhone but the N95 browser is just not as good as the iPhone.

But the UK and Germany miss out (at least on Vodafone as O2 and T-Mobile has them) - this country exclusivity is a bore.
