Vodafone To Offer MySpace Mobile
Rating: speechless
First Helio had an exclusive deal with MySpace then Cingular mirrored the exclusive deal and now Vodafone has an exclusive deal too! Is it GoMo News, or is the value of an exclusive deal in mobile diminishing?
First things first: what is the mySpace deal?
1. mySpace boasts 55 million users.
2. It’s a daily meeting ground or hunting ground for gossip mad and hungry 15 to 35 year olds.
3. Its in the top three most viewed websites in the world (Alexa).
4. It’s an advertising jungle or paradise generating big buck revenues for all involved.
5. Kids love it.
Vodafone’s track record
1. Invested millions in to Vodafone live! but it has failed to fly.
2. Will launch mySpace via a number of pre-packaged pre-chosen devices.
3. Offers free browsing in the UK – the first country the mySpace deal will kick in.
4. Is likely to follow Cingular and offer this service as a monthly subscription fee. Cingular charges USD 2.99 per month.
5. Will have its fingers crossed that even a trickle of the mySpace users will sign up via mobile to ensure it squeezes some revenues out of its mobile portal services.
6. Will offer mySpace as a download from Vodafone live! (Should seriously consider making this an SMS download in the first instance).
MySpace Mobile
1. Basically its an on device application
2. Users are able to:
a. View photos
b. Respond to mail
c. Manage community
d. Post blogs
e. View friends profiles
