Rating: Latest version offers enhanced, money-saving features
For those determined to save as much as possible on their voice calling and text services, Vopium has decided to introduce an enhanced version of its flagship Android app. Vopium claims to be a leading Mobile VoIP service provider – offering low-cost but high-quality VoIP calls to over one million users in 52 countries. This news is so hot that the new version hasn’t surfaced on the Android Market quite yet. However, we’re assured that he new version of Vopium for Android features a streamlined user interface that improves communications and enhances the user experience. More to the point, however, this app should make great use of ‘presence’ to show users which networks their contacts are currently connected to. This announcement follows hot on the heels of Vopium’s announcement of what the company claims is the first ‘real’ Wi-fi calling app. More details here.
The latest Android version will automatically update the status of contacts, indicating whether a contact’s mobile device is connected to GSM, CDMA or Wi-fi.
This makes it easy for users to place free Wi-fi-to-Wi-fi calls. Just like industry leading VoIP provider, Skype – Vopium’s service works best if both parties have the requisite app installed.
Vopium’s app also works with Android tablets, enabling calling from Wi-fi-only tablets like the Motorola XOOM Wi-fi, too.
A wizard provides the per-minute rate before each call is placed and gathers call-quality feedback.
As a bonus, the upgrades includes social networking features which enable users to earn Vopium calling credits through Facebook and Twitter.
“We’ve completely updated the Vopium app to take advantage of all of the exciting features and capabilities in each new version of Android,” commented Vopium’s CEO, Tanveer Sharif.
“The new app helps maintain Vopium’s reputation among users, analysts and the media as a leader in providing convenient, user-friendly ways for people worldwide to communicate on their terms and within their budgets.”
By the time you read this, the very latest version of Vopium for Android should be ready on the Android Market here.
