Rating: Finally launches its Nokia app on Ovi
The restaurant chain group, Wagamama, has display a strong degree of confidence in UK Nokia handset owners by launching its app on Nokia’s Ovi store . This is some 14 months after it claimed to be “the first restaurant in the UK to offer a ordering service via the iPhone. The news follows the company’s announcement that Wagamama’s online take-out site wagamamatakeout.com is now fully optimised for use by smartphone handsets. It should provide a better quality user experience across a wide range of handsets. The new Nokia app is available immediately for a free download. It allows users to browse and order food straight from their Nokia phone.Wagamama claims its mobile-friendly site boasts a ‘super-quick’ ordering function designed for ordering on the move. The Nokia app also boasts a fully-integrated ordering facility.
Nokia owners can use the app to locate their nearest Wagamama restaurant and then browse the menus. Once they’ve chosen their dishes, the order is sent directly to the kitchen of the selected branch.
The app also refreshes itself automatically with new dishes and specials as soon as they are added to the Wagamama menu.
“Our new app takes the speed and convenience of the Wagamama experience and brings it direct to the handsets of mobile users, who are choosing to order via their handsets in increasingly greater numbers,” claimed Steve Hill, Wagamama’s CEO.
GoMo News eventually persuaded the handset to provide the app with our current location and then selected the nearest one which was in Kingston.
It was rather disappointing that payment can only be made with a debit or credit card, although it won’t take too long to set up your account.
When you choose your dishes, you can either add them to your favourites or the app will automatically remember your most recent selections.
It’s another good illustration of how the big brands are becoming mobile aware and also that just having an iPhone app isn’t sufficient.
