We’ve encountered Spin3 a couple of times before. Partnered with on-line gaming company Microgaming, Spin3 runs one of the biggest mobile casino games sites in the world. Now it has announced a new mobile game - one with the largest on-line jackpot ever created: €6 million, almost $9 million.

Since Spin3 first started, non-gambling games have become a much bigger player in the mobile market. These days when you say “mobile gaming” people will assume you mean PacMac on the iPhone or something. So, for the purposes of clarity, when I talk about gaming in this article, I am referring to casino games.

What has Spin3 done?

The game is called Mega Moolah. It’s your basic spin-the-reels-match-the-symbols style game that old ladies pour their life savings into at Vegas. The game is available on web-enabled smartphones, and has a number of different play styles to keep people amused. The important game, though, is called Mega Progressive. Each player who pays to spin the wheels, but doesn’t win the big jackpot, adds a little more to that jackpot. The more people play, the more money goes in. The on-line version of Mega Moolah delivered €6 million to a player in May of this year.

The game is only available as a mobile web-hosted app at the moment, but a Java version will be made available for download during December.

What we think?

I’m not a gambler - apart from a brief stay in Las Vegas last year, I’ve never really been one to put my money down. But I can’t deny the pull of the idea that I could sit on the bus in the morning, playing a casino game on my device, and win several million dollars.
