What GoMo News wants for Xmas

Rating: Lots and lots of good stories and leaks

GoMo News has been looking back at the big stories we ran in 2009 and wishes that 2010 will bring far more of them. Hence this particular GoMo hack has decided to create a Xmas wish list in the hope that Santa might come down the chimney with a stockingful.
In the good old days disgruntled employees (this applied to RIM on one very famous occasion) would call respected publications (and that means us) and leak big secrets. In RIM’s case it was details of the next Blackberry.

So the first wish is more emails from industry insiders. While other online publishers are timid, GoMo news has the guts to tell it like there is.
Another Xmas wish is that other bloggers would also get in touch with GoMo News if they have a scoop that all the news wires have missed. At GoMo we always endeavour to credit the original source.

A good example of the above was this story … Running both Android and Windows together- the rumours. We credited Androidspin and somebody called Maxisma for originally publishing the list of the previously unreleased HTC codenames.

GoMo News would also wish that more start-up developers contacted us with the trails and tribulations of being small and inexperienced outfits but possessing plenty of enthusiasm.

In this instance, GoMo is thinking of Steven Dow who described his battle with uploading an app,  Stuck4words, to the iTunes App store here.

Other news wires obviously work on the principle that, “Good artists borrow but great artists steal.” But GoMo News actually does its research.

That quote is almost certainly by the great artist, Pablo Picasso ,who was one year older than the Russian composer, Stravinsky, who apparently said, “Good composers borrow, great composers steal.”

Maybe, they both based themselves on TS Eliot who reputedly said, “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal”?

But Steve Jobs is quoted as saying, “Good programmers write good code; great programmers steal great code.”

So the final wish is for mobile app developers to answer the question, “if you’re stealing good ideas which ideas are they?”

The reality is that GoMo is very easy to reach. Our email addresses appear at the top of a story (and sometimes at the bottom of the story if we remember).

Tony is based in Surrey and is a veteran comms journalist. Tony is also wishing that Santa will be filling his stocking with loads of emails to this address tony@mobileinsight.co.uk this Xmas.
