What is Mobile Web 2.0?

by: Bena Roberts Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

As I mentioned, today I will be the chairman at the Mobile Web 2.0 conference in London. I am looking forward to the event and I am moderating about six of the panel sessions.

I did some preparation on the plane over and this morning and I thought - that is Mobile Web 2.0 actually defined and should it be?

At the moment it seems that anything interactive can be bundled into the 2.0 theory - and then advertising seems to be the most effective business model. But is that all it takes, an application with a social aspect or the opportunity to blog a response plus advertising?

Or a dating service with location/ GPS and SMS Friend Finder service -surely that can’t be it?

I have heard consultants going on about the theory of mobile social networking and a new value chain - but again that is or should only be plan c. We need to get to plan a. We need to make mobile web 2.0 a community of services that leverage each other - work seamlessly with each other and those that sustain a mobile business model.
