Everyone has spoken about widgets. I might have been a bit slow on this area but my slowness has evaporated! I am the new widget loving fan of the universe.
Why?
Well by chance during mobile world congress I popped into the Oracle innovation lab and listened to a demo on widgets and endless possibilities of mobile site and Web 2.0 development. In the crowd I noticed someone from Waterford and by pure chance the company that is demoing at Mobile World Congress is based in Waterford, Ireland the new home of GoMo News.
Who?
The company is called Feed Henry. Simple name. But I think it should be called Widget Henry because feeds are only one part of the package of what this monster can handle. Its a delivery platform that makes any website a mobile 2.0 website with a My (brand name) button. So the consumer can choose what and how he/she digests information from any source.
After the demo, I went and grabbed the presenter Richard Rodger and asked him for more information. After that I was quite speechless.
Why?
Well the thing with widgets is that you like them. They can make getting and sharing information easier –but that is just the beginning. I didn’t realise the ease at which widgets could be mobilised and dragged and dropped from desktop to desktop. What also struck me is that widgets were completely measurable. You could get analytics and find out who used them when and how.
How?
Well. In short. The service is from a company called Feed Henry. They make widgets or are able to widgetise any content.
What does this mean?
It means that you can get ultra creative with mobile or online widgets and make your website or iPhone application a true mobile experience. It is a cost effective way of adding a much more powerful tool that search to your web or mobile site.
Plus…
On top of that you can instantly mash-up any content that you have or would like to offer. So you can mix and link up with mobile sites and other open API sources to provide the sexiest of mobile or online content to your readers.
SEO
I haven’t really had a chance to focus on this but from the demos I have seen (Munster Express and Eircom) the mobile search marketing implications of what this could do and provide are limitless.
