Xavier Couture appointed Head of Orange Content
Xavier Couture has been appointed head of the Orange Content Division, the Group’s entity dedicated to defining and developing content solutions for use in its offers and services worldwide, in its mobile, web and television triple play packages. His appointment will take effect on 2 June 2008. Xavier Couture will report directly to Raoul Roverato, Executive VP in charge of new growth activities.
After several years as a senior manager in the press and publishing world, Xavier Couture joined leading French TV channel TF1 in 1988 as editor in chief, then as assistant director to the channel’s vice-president, Etienne Mougeotte. After a spell in production with the Jacques Antoine group, where his responsibilities included production of the famous “Fort Boyard” game, he returned to TF1 in 1993. He was named Head of Broadcasting in 1994, combining responsibilities as head of sports and special operations from 1999 and vice-chairman of Eurosport in 2000. In 2002, he took charge of Canal+ group as chairman, a position he held until February 2003. Xavier Couture then joined the Endemol group, taking on several operational roles (chairman of subsidiaries such as Case, Usual, SMF, Meo).
Since September 2007, he has worked as a consultant to Orange general management, responsible for various issues relating to the Group’s audiovisual content development policy.
Xavier Couture replaces Patricia Langrand, who will be leaving the Group. Over the past few years, Patricia Langrand has played a key role in the transformation of Orange, with the creation and development of the Content Division. She successfully launched and deployed the group’s TV over ADSL solutions, then designed and implemented an innovative and highly effective partnerships and service development strategy in TV, cinema, series, sports, music and video games.
