First day and night in London Round-up: RingRing, Rob Knight and Yorkville Advisors
I met RingRing Media today –I think I have a video and will write more on that next week. I also had a lovely lunch with our ex-consultant to the stars blogger Rob – which was lovely. But it wasn’t all play today and I had to do some work.
OK – so I phoned Yorkville Advisors last minute asked if they had time for me for an overview after my chat with Iain McCready. They did and I had a couple of drinks (ended up at a private members only Boat club in swanky Mayfair) called The Royal Ocean Racing Club. There was a private awards trophy bash on – but it didn’t matter – all members and guests were allowed in at all times. I have to say I felt slightly under dressed in this grand atmosphere –but I did drink Rum (in the spirit of sailing - or have I been watching too many pirate films?)
Wow!
So this time, I didn’t get dinner, but I did have a lovely few hours with Yorkville’s MD Paul Strzelecki. I pushed some business ideas that I had to him and got some really valuable feedback. I am working on my own mobile application and I wanted to get some feedback from an independent party. I am also consulting for an ambitious new start-up seeking funding and wanted to discuss Angels vs VCs vs Yorkville. But; more than that I wanted to see if YA had seen the Iain McCready interview and if there were any comments.
My ability to steer the conversation didn’t actually work and I got some interesting feedback but instead we spoke about the whole barcode market. I feel that there is a buzz in the air. As a VC the barcode, marketing advertising market seems to be red hot. I have another meeting with Yorkville tomorrow and this was more of a friendly chat and will report back.
After that I continued drinking rum with one of my best friends and completely missed the smstext party – so sorry –hope it went really well.

Comment made on June 11th, 2008 at 2:20 pmIt is really good of you to sacrifice your body with the rum to get the scoop on this market. LOL
You are doing a great job and we all look forward to your next report.
