Being weaned on Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica i have always wanted a laser so i can vaporise any punk who stands on my foot in the tube, cuts me up whilst driving or looks at me funny.  This doesn’t make me a mental, lasers are not like guns because they dispatch foes in a santised and painless way by heating them up until their guts bubble up and disintegrate. However, i digress, Young Optics has just started getting gobby about their chances in the mobile market, saying that by 2010 they will be able to fit a tiny laser projector into high-end handsets. 

This will essentially allow the user to project media onto any flat surface - turning your mobile into a high-spec media projector and letting you project pictures and video wherever you are.  Sweet.  I have however done some sums and worked out that projecting media in public using your laser phone increases your chances of getting mugged by 903%.
