Ztar Mobile gets USD 4 Million for Bratz

Rating: oh no?

GoMo News believes that all MVNO’s targeting kids are doomed. This particular MVNE is around a type of fashion doll? According to moco news Novak Biddle Venture Partners led the round and the Bratz mobile service will retail at Wal-Mart.

What we think?
NO. NO. No. no. The MVNO market is not ready for such small segmented niche services and anyone with kids will know that what is in fashion one week is out the next. This will be the same for the phone service which (I hate to be a killjoy) is doomed.

If Disney couldn’t do it in the consumer heaven UK market (it pulled out) then how on earth is a brand called Bratz going to do it? Personally, I hate the term Bratz and wouldn’t want my kids to be associated with it – Kool or NOT.

The only positive is that this is a dumbed down MVNO instead of going for full on operator status this venture will be a reseller of mobile services. This means that costs are heavily reduced and things such as network infrastructure is piggy backed from the operator. So the biggest expense is advertising and marketing.
