Rating: Chinese manufacturer’s innovation recognised
Here at GoMobile News we are not the least surprised to learn that up-and-coming Chinese mobile phone producer, ZTE, has just won an award for one of its smartphones. The handset was officially launched at the CES 2013 in Las Vegas. The ZTE Grand S – 5.0 FHD LTE has won the prestigious the 2013 iF International Design Award. The ZTE Grand S was picked by a judging team comprised of 49 top international designers and stood out amongst 4,325 entries from 51 countries. It’s not the only major news to come out from ZTE this week. The company has also just announced a major tie up with digital voice specialist Nuance Communications. The pair aim to collaborate on a range of devices and apps which will incorporate Nuance’s voice capabilities for ZTE Android phone range.
The ZTE Grand S won the award for its ‘Inside Out’ concept which creates the best combination of aesthetics and functionality.
The result of the Nuance collaboration is ZTE’s new Car Mode application unveiled at CES 2013 in Las Vegas.
Car Mode integrates Nuance’s powerful voice capabilities to let users speak to stay connected to the people and content they love, without bringing additional manual-visual distractions into the car.
“Mobile means being connected at any time and any place. By integrating Nuance’s voice technologies as a core part of our Android device lineup and mobile applications, our consumers can simply speak to elicit an intelligent response from their phone – no hands required,” said Kan Yulun, CTO of the ZTE mobile device division.
“The results of our collaboration will yield a new global portfolio of intelligent and intuitive Android devices and applications that keep people connected on the go and wherever life takes them, said Michael Thompson, an with Nuance Mobile.
He continued, “Working closely with ZTE, Nuance will further humanise and simplify the way people interact with ZTE devices and applications through voice.”
