Zumeo and mJob combine mobile social networking and job hunting

Two highly web-connected recruitment firms have just joined forces. mJob is an agency founded by an SEO expert that focuses purely on mobile recruitment. Zumeo is a recruitment agency and a consultancy firm that helps both employees and employers use social media to fill positions. From today, all Zumeo subscribers will be able to access the mobile Internet and SMS services offered by mJob.

mJob approaces mobile recruitment from the employer side, using a variety of mobile channels to connect with prospective employess. Mobile Web Sites, SMS, idle screen advertising, mobile search engine optimisation – even proximity marketing. Zumeo is a more traditional agency, offering profiling and job matching, but concentrating heavily on using social networks .

From the release:

“mJob’s mobile solution is a given for Zumeo,” Jared Booye, Zumeo’s CEO, said. “With over 99% of college students using mobile devices, it is imperative that we leverage this technology to its fullest potential. Not only can Zumeo users receive relevant job matches via text message, but now with Zumeo’s mobile search page powered by mJob they have access to the latest openings directly from their phone. Overall, it’s a progressive solution and a vital part of a mobile strategy.”

Joel Cheesman, founder of mJob, said “Job seekers will be able to reap the benefits of mobile by accessing Zumeo’s thousands of jobs anytime, anywhere, while employers will be able to tap into a much larger pool of qualified candidates with the ease and immediacy of mobile sourcing.”

What we think?

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a mobile Internet job hunting service. College Recruiter launched a mobile branch not so long ago. However, this is certainly the first time I’ve seen job search so geared towards mobile Web.
