BA to introduce in-flight mobile internet

British Airways has announced that it’s upcoming London to New York route will include in-flight access to the mobile web. Passengers flying London City Airport to JFK will be able to send text messages and emails, and access the internet from the flight.

Pricing details are currently unavailable.

From the release:

A BA spokesman said: “The service is aimed at people in the Square Mile. We believe the route and the new technology will offer an appealing package to business travellers.”

What we think?

As BA have stated that the service is aimed specifically at business travellers, I’m going to assume that it’ll be hideously expensive. It also seems odd that they have no provision for voice calls yet, although the Daily Mail says that they are considering it “subject to feedback”.
