Here’s the latest Garmin-Asus mobile navigation phone - and is a switch to Android coming?
As GPS navigation is more and more threatened by mobile alternatives, Garmin has no intention of sitting still. Through it’s joint-venture Garmin-Asus it has already launched two mobile devices geared towards navigation in the West. This month it has launched a third - and rumours indicate we can expect an Android device during MWC.
Mobile device lovers stick it to Nokia with fan-made video
Here’s an interesting one - a group of Nokia fans have gotten tired of waiting for the Finnish giant to make a decent smartphone. So they’ve done a mock-up of the “Orion” phone they wish that Nokia would make, and released it into the wild. How does it look? Pretty damn hot!
Good news, UK Android fans! T-Mobile picks up Nexus One mobile
One of the most interesting things about the Nexus One was that you could buy it unlocked straight from Google - no need for an operator. That made it incredibly expensive, so a lot of people went with option 2, which was to buy it subsidized from T-Mobile. But that was just in the States. Now T-Mobile UK has announced that it too will be selling the Nexus One.
Windows Mobile Zune phone looking likely - but do we really care?
Rumours are starting to heat up that a Zune mobile phone might be revealed at Mobile World Congress this month. The combination mobile phone/computer/media player could be a direct Windows analogue of the Apple iPhone… but will anyone really care?
Do eco-phones sell? Another “green” mobile, from Sony Ericsson and Windows Mobile
Making things ecologically sound has found a place for itself in the marketing lexicon. Calling something “green” or “eco-friendly” has a certain cache for a certain audience - and mobile manufacturers have not resisted the pull. The latest eco-phone to hit the market comes from Sony Ericsson… but the Aspen is interestingly different because it’s an enterprise device, aimed at business customers.
The razors will be out for iPhone SIMs
Rating: Just cut along the dotted lines
It came as no surprise to learn that in order to connect an Apple iPad to a W-CDMA style 3G network, you’ll need a micro SIM card. Being smaller this will lead to existing iPhone users slashing their existing SIM cards down to size.

More problems for Apple, this time over iPad name
It hasn’t been a great week for Apple in some regards. The ongoing legal battle between it and Nokia took a turn in Nokia’s favour, as America’s International Trade Commission declared it would be investigating Apple imports. And today another company has gotten stuck into the fan favorite - Fujitsu is claiming it owns the rights to the name “iPad”.
Qualcomm bams it up a notch with legal battle over Smartbook mobile device name
The term “smartbook” is a surprisingly dangerous word. GoMo News got it’s first Cease & Desist thanks to using the word (we were so proud). A German company called Smartbook AG claims that the name is its registered trademark, and that any other use of it constitutes a legal breach. The main target of this campaign from Smartbook AG seems to be processor powerhouse Qualcomm - and Qualcomm is not taking this lying down. Read on…
Mobile applications gearing up for the iPad
One of the pieces of news that was welcomed by consumers and developers alike was that the Apple iPad would run iPhone applications. But app developers have spoken before about how tricky it can be to make sure that your app is optimised to run on a new device. As a result, more than one service for app developers has been making noise about how it will work perfectly on the iPad. Today, we have an announcement from mobile analytics firm,
Motorola and AT&T both reaping the rewards of mobile
After the gloom and doom of the early week, it’s nice to see some good financial news coming in. Ericsson and Verizon both had a lot of bad news to report, with profits down and layoffs up. But both Motorola and AT&T are saying things are looking up - but how up are they?
Much rumored Motorola Zeppelin Android phone may be appearing at Mobile World Congress
The “Zeppelin” has been a much rumored device over that last few months. It also seems to be a codename for two different Android devices from Motorola - a working name for the recently launched XT800 in Asia, and a similar device for the Western market. And according to the rumors, this Western Android should be coming to MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona next month.
Why are people so angry about the iPad?
Yesterday was a glorious examples of how effective Apple’s marketing engine is. The hype reached fever pitch as Steve Jobs rock-starred his way onto stage. But much like the Nexus One, the backlash has already begun against the device. Is it justified? Let’s look at the pros and cons.
Apple iPad update: is the price right at $500?
As more info about the Apple iPad was published, I found myself asking the same question that a lot of other people were asking: how much will this cost? It’s a very nice machine, but price is essential. Now that information has been released, and the basic model will cost you $500 - with the bigger versions of the device costing you up to $830. Is that cheap enough?
Great, it’s an iPad! Now how much will it cost?
After weeks, months and years of teasing, we finally have a product. The Apple iPad has been launched, and the news is pouring across the web. As a machine that’s half way between a phone and a computer, who is going to be using it?
