Discretix announces DRM for Moorestown, but does it have a place on the mobile internet?

Discretix today announced the launch of its DRM service for the Intel Mobile Internet Device, codenamed “Moorestown“. The security providers Multi-Scheme DRM client has been now been optimized to run on Moorestown, and the Linux-based Moblin OS. But does DRM really have a place in the long run?

Nokia today announced an approximate release date for it’s new Vodafone-specific device, the 6730 classic. Falling somewhere between the company’s generally specific device families, the S60 device comes with the Vodafone Music Client, mobile Internet access, and pre-loaded LBS, navigation and email facilities.

Spotify has released what is basically a teaser trailer for the upcoming mobile version of its on-line music streaming service. The demo is for an Android version of the service, but many people expect that an iPhone will be forthcoming.

QuickPlay and Virgin Mobile today announced a new music service for the Indian market. Vmusic will be the first unlimited service for full-track music downloads from Virgin Mobile in India. Quickplay will be providing the infrastructure for the service, which will be free to subscribers… for the first 12 months, anyway.

Myxer today announced that it has acquired 20 million users, who average 55 million downloads per month - roughly 21 downloads every second. It claims that it’s current total of over 350 million downloads since launch makes it the mobile webs largest content community.
