Eastern promises: UK finally gets Android mobile device from LG
Between LG and Motorola, there are quite a number of Android phones available in Korea and other Asian markets that simply haven’t made their way over here. And by “here” I mean Europe and America. But with the release of the InTouch Max in England, we’re finally seeing some of that Androidy goodness.
T-Mobile rolls out free WinMo 6.5 upgrade for HTC Touch Pro2
One of the few genuinely popular and well-thought of Windows Mobile devices on the market at the moment is the HTC Touch Pro2. T-Mobile carries the phone in the States, and today has announced that it will be rolling out a free over-the-air upgrade for the device. The device ran on WinMo 6.1 when it was launched, and the upgrade will bump it up to the not-particularly-anticipated WinMo 6.5
Five more Android smartphones from Motorola this year in China alone
In a further display of its dedication to Android smartphones, Motorola has announced that it will be launching five or six new mobile devices for the Chinese market this year - and apparently one of them is almost ready to be revealed.
T-Mobile issues refunds for increasingly unpopular Nexus One
Have you ever heard such complaining? It seems that the Nexus One has already become the biggest anticlimaxes of 2010. Cost complaints, spotty reception, unresponsive touchscreens, terrible customer service, extravagant fees… the list goes on. And now T-Mobile has responded by not only dropping the price of the device, but issuing refunds to people who bought it the earlier price.
You snooze, you lose: Android picks up where WinMo was too slow
It has been a week of ups and downs for Windows Mobile. But mostly downs. Its big Korean manufacturing, LG, may have announced it was remaining committed to the mobile OS - but in almost the same breath it also declared it was looking to Android to boost smartphone sales. And many others feel that same. What’s the problem?
Hype does not equal success: Flurry reports extremely low first week sales for Nexus One
Interesting results were published by analytics service Flurry. According to its measurments, the opening week sales for the Nexus One were comparatively very poor.
Google turns its sights on businesses: Nexus Two to be enterprise mobile device
The hype machine surrounding the Nexus One is starting to wind down - and in some ways a negative hype machine is starting to get going. Any way you cut it, Google needs something else for people to focus on. And according to Reuters, it has announced that the Nexus Two will be an enterprise device. But the biggest competition Google may have to face in this space is itself.
Not just open, but free: Brew MP mobile OS from Qualcomm
GoMo News reported on the release of the new mobile operating system from Qualcomm last week. Brew Mobile Platform (MP) is based on the mobile application framework from Qualcomm, but takes a step forward into being a true operating system for smartphones. Part of the PR push was about the fact that it is “open” - but that doesn’t always equate to “cheap”. But there’s some good news from Qualcomm…

Is there room for one more? Qualcomm launches yet another mobile operating system
A mere two days ago, we wrote about how Nokia is annoyed about the sheer number of mobile operating systems. So I can only image a collective slapping of foreheads at Nokia central today, as Qualcomm announces it’s new BREW Mobile Platform Open Operating System.
Google needs awareness not hype. Now that the Nexus One is unveiled the real work begins.
As I’m sure you know by now, Google finally revealed the Nexus One to the world yesterday evening - or in the middle of the night, here in Ireland. Gadget lovers, mobile phone followers and Android fanatics all over the world rejoice! But tech lovers, bloggers and journalists are easy to whip into a frenzy with a device like the Nexus One. Google is going to have a much harder job convincing the buying public that the device is worth forking out for.
Android lovers: hands up if you want details on the Nexus One mobile phone
Is it January 5th already? Back in mid-December, Reuters started talking about todays date as something special for the hotly anticipated Google Phone. Then Google confirmed that something would be happening today when it invited certain elements of the tech media to its lofty mountain fortress in Mountain View for a “press gathering” today. Will they finally stop teasing us? Are we finally going to see some hard data on the Nexus One?
Too many cooks spoil the smartphone. Nokia wants less mobile operating systems
Nokia had some very interesting things to say about mobile operating systems in a recent interview. According to Rick Simonson, Nokia’s executive VP and head of mobile phones, there isn’t room for more than 5 operating systems in the smartphone market. Mr. Simson made his comments in a revealing interview with India’s Economic Times. He said “there is definitely not enough room for more than 4-5 operating systems” but the really cutting comment was “Palm’s OS is very good, but with less than 1% of the global volumes, it won’t be too appealing to developers.”
