Want easier texting? T-Mobile is preloading Swype mobile touch screen tech

thumbIt’s a little hard to describe what Swype does, because it’s a very visual technology. Basically, it makes writing texts on touchscreen devices WAYS faster. Instead of hitting each individual button to write a word, you use your thumb to draw a single line on the screen - a line that connects every letter you want in the word. Swype then uses predictive texting to place that word on the screen. And today Swype is announcing a huge win - T-Mobile USA has announced that it will be pre-loading the tech on its touch screen devices.

t-mobile-sale Deutsche Telekom (DT) has not been having a great year outside of its home country of Germany. It decided that its English subsidiary, T-Mobile UK, was underperforming so much that it should merged off with another UK operator - a decision that is still going through legal wrangling. And now it has announced that its America operation may be put up for sale to the public through an IPO.

angry-android-smlHave you ever heard such complaining? It seems that the Nexus One has already become the biggest anticlimaxes of 2010. Cost complaints, spotty reception, unresponsive touchscreens, terrible customer service, extravagant fees… the list goes on. And now T-Mobile has responded by not only dropping the price of the device, but issuing refunds to people who bought it the earlier price.

The company has raised its share price rating for Sprint Nextel, and is claiming that there is a good possibility Sprint and German owned T-Mobile will merge in the next 12 months.

Deutsche Telekom to take over Strato

Deutsche Telekom will take over the webhosting provider Strato from the telecommunications company Freenet. A contract will be signed today in Berlin with Freenet AG on the acquisition of 100 percent of its shares in Strato AG and Strato Rechenzentrum AG. The companies’ supervisory boards approved the plan. The transaction is yet to be approved by the competition authorities.

We have received “final confirmation” of the joint-venture that is to be launched in the UK between France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom - merging their UK operations Orange and T-Mobile. After months of speculation, the decision was initially announced in September, and the final seal has been stamped today.

I went into the T-Mobile shop in St. George’s centre to buy a prepaid card for my phone. I went into the shop and the sales staff were huddled at the counter and didn’t say hello to me. I waited and waited and no-one came to me. So, I went up to one guy and asked him for a card.

The MyTouch 3G has been officially shown to the world, and the highly customisable smartphone has been getting fairly good reviews all round. But sad news for those who loved their HTC Dream (or G1, if you like) - T-Mobile has no intention of releasing it’s successor, the HTC Hero
