Aim is to become Europe’s leading business SMS provider
In its efforts to ramp up and further develop the SMS side to its business, Esendex has acquired Text Marketer. The company claims that the combined business will be able to further capitalise on the rapidly-growing business SMS market. The acquisition is the first for Esendex following its £11 million management buyout (MBO) completed with the help of Darwin Private Equity back in July . To date, Text Marketer’s web-based SMS software has made transactional and mobile text marketing available to over 3,500 customers. Clients include Sainsburys, and Rover and Bathstore.
Geoff Love, CEO with Esendex, commented, “Text Marketer is an excellent acquisition for Esendex – we have known the company for a long time and their model is complementary to ours.”
He added, “Text Marketer was an obvious choice. With their impressive growth, strong client base and well positioned price-led offering, we can now serve a wider range of customers with differing business SMS needs.”
Love made it very clear what the motivations behind this acquisition were. “Our ambition is to become Europe’s leading business SMS provider and the acquisition of Text Marketer is a first step towards reaching that goal,” he said.
Text Marketer was founded back in 1999 with the aim of becoming the supplier of choice for high quality, low cost business SMS.
Text Marketer’s CEO, Richard Hawley, observed, “We believe that Esendex can help drive our business forward and offer our clients even more value and opportunities, in turn helping them further boost their own businesses.”
Esendex itself provides mission-critical business messaging systems to the likes of Ocado, Virgin Media and Gatwick Airport via direct connections to all the mobile networks through its high-reliability in-house SMS platform.
