Fanta Stealth Sounds by Ogilvy

I checked out the Fanta mobile site and thought I would write a short review on one of the new Stealth Sounds services. I had heard about this in a presentation at one of the conferences but had never seen it. Its like the Lynx effect sound monitor with a younger funkier edge.

My first reaction was - love the mobile site. Now there is mobile design and mobile design. Where this one isn’t optimised for SEO - it is a sexy landing site for any click through campaign. The images the use of buttons make it clean and simple and effective.

The huge BACK button is a revolution!

The actual Stealth Sounds page is so simple its a joy to the eye. The focus is on the download (exactly where it should be).

I never saw a CPM campaign for this or any results but I did find this video on YouTube so I presume a lot of viral marketing was done.

The video is so British, I hated it. But then again so I should I as I am sooo not the target market.

I somehow stumbled upon Fanta’s wap site back in December. Actually, I found it because I’d taken an interest in what Ford and WeAreSocial did with augmented reality on S60 3rd Ed phones. YouTube suggested a video of Fanta’s similar AR offering.

Anyway, I tried installing the thing and it refused to work. Have I got a duff phone or was Fanta’s app to fault? I don’t know. I gave up trying! That tennis game looked fun, had I got it to work (and persuaded a friend to install it too).

Thing is, this isn’t promoted well and is aimed at quite a particular audience. Is this really an effective way of promoting the brand?
