Ford to Focus on personal cloud in MWC keynote

Rating: Speaker will be none other than Henry’s great grandson

It seems quite fitting that the first-ever keynote address from an automotive industry leader at a Mobile World Congress will be delivered this year [2012] by the great grandson of Henry Ford – Bill Ford. Bill plans to outline the Ford Motor Company‘s future vision and discuss how technology and innovation can enhance personal freedom and mobility despite expanding vehicle populations and rapid urbanisation. Ford’s approach of talking directly to technology consumers and media began three years ago at the International CES show in Las Vegas. Ford has also had a major presence at the CeBIT, Hanover and IFA, Berlin shows in Germany. The Ford Motor Company’s presence at MWC 2012 Barcelona is designed to highlight its role as a leader in the field of in-car technology.

The Ford Motor Company has been active in developing both cloud-based vehicle systems and car-to-car communications as part of its strategy of creating a connected vehicle future.

At the MWC, Ford will demonstrate its EVOS Concept vehicle to show how its technology can seamlessly connect the vehicle to the driver’s ‘personal cloud’ of information.

The EVOS Concept delivers a personalised driving experience draws on historical driver behaviour, travel patterns, weather information and even the driver’s schedule.

The aim is to enhance fuel efficiency; safety; time management; and driving enjoyment.

At MWC 2012, Ford will also be demonstrating Ford SYNC – an advanced in-car communication system developed in conjunction with Microsoft.

Ford SYNC debuts in Europe this year [2012] having already proved its popularity in the USA.
