Mobile advertising and marketing hot news: iAds, location and retail

Here’s the hottest mobile advertising and marketing news from GoMo News. Another developer is reporting amazing returns through Apple’s iAds advertising network; BuzzCity announces its SDK for BlackBerry apps; retailers are exhorted to concentrate on mobile solutions; and more…

BuzzCity SDK hits Blackberry

Only a few days ago it was widely reported that RIM, makers of the BlackBerry range of devices, is thinking about buying its own mobile advertiser – like Google and Apple. Perhaps as a response to that, today mobile advertiser BuzzCity has released its SDK for Blacbkerry. This will allow app developers for RIM devices to place BuzzCity ads straight into their app – pulling in revenue from the 4.5 billion ad requests the network claims it gets per month.

Retailers need to focus on mobile marketing

The popularity of mobile shopping is growing fast. Recent reports have shown that not only do consumers want mobile services to cater for them while they’re shopping, but that retailers are lagging behind them. Jeremy Lockhorn, Director of Emerging Media for digital marketer Razorfish, explains retailers need to focus on mobile marketing: http://www.clickz.com/clickz/column/1729285/reasons-why-retailers-must-adopt-mobile-marketing

RateWatch reports success on iPhone advertising

Another success story for iAds – RateWatch is a free application from MF Software, which tracks interest rate performance. The app launched in 2008, and used Admob to serve ads – which MF Software Matthew Formica deemed to be “easy to integrate, but not very lucrative on average”. He claims that ad revenue has increased by up to 14 times since the company started using iAds.
