There’s a very cool weekly gathering in Nashville, called Musician’s Corner. For a few months during the year, every Saturday there is a free outdoor concert where new talent can play for an audience of music lovers. The Musician’s Corner has now signed up with Mogreet to promote the events over mobile.
What’s the story?
There’s a lot of support behind Musician’s Corner – city officials and music labels are involved. Musicians can apply to get a spot at any of the concerts, which run from May 7th to July 2nd, and then again from September 3rd to November 5th. Attendance is completely free, and it takes place in Nashville’s Centennial Park.
What’s Mogreet doing?
Mogreet is a video-based mobile marketing platform – but it operates mostly through messaging. Don’t get me wrong, the company does a lot of work outside of messaging, but MMS and SMS are the bread and butter of Mogreet’s game. For Musician’s Corner, it will be offering music lovers the opportunity to receive text and video updates about the live events through MMS and SMS. Once they’ve opted-in, Mogreet will keep them up-to-date with scheduled performers, sneak peeks, weather alerts (which is a smart service to offer for outdoor concerts) and other stuff.
John Tumminello, Executive Director of Musicians Corner said “after last year’s successful Musicians Corner debut, we were looking to extend the connection to our audience. Mobile campaigns provide the opportunity to deliver pertinent information and engage people with information and contests. Mogreet’s platform provides us with the capability to reach our audience in a much more engaging, relevant, and personalized manner that will enhance the event experience.”
What we think?
You could probably call this a stepping stone for Mogreet – included in the press release was a call for other festival organizers to make contact with them about promoting their events. It makes a lot of sense. Music festivals attract an incredibly varied crowd. You’ll get thousands of people turning up; tens of thousands or more for the big ones. Most of these people probably won’t have smartphones. But they can all receive SMS.
