Mobile World Congress has attracted more media attention than ever this year – despite the increased amount of space for media and press this year, there are more people than ever sitting on the floor to get work done. I’d love to see the numbers on how many press attendees there are, because it feels like the place is coming down with us.
This is only my third year here, but it seems that this year they’ve made as much desk space available as possible in the main “news room”. The banks of printers are no longer present (because, really, who keeps notes on paper anymore?) and the meeting space outside is a lot bigger than it was last year. With more tables, chairs and desk space available, you’d expect it to be enough. And yet I’ve seen more people decamped on the ground than ever before. Chairs are now more valuable than gold – I’m typing this standing up at a table that all the seats have been stolen from.
