Nuance Communications support safe driving this christmas, with voice activated in-car tech

Rating: Hands-free texting and navigation could lead to safer roads… and less tickets

Provider of voice-recognition software, Nuance Communications, is making a push towards safe driving this Christmas. Well, that’s not entirely true. More accurately, Nuance Communications wants to make sure that people in California will still be able to text and drive after 2008! New legislation outlawing texting while driving will come into effect on January 1st 2009, and Nuance believes it has the perfect solution.

What’s on offer?

Nuance has a pretty comprehensive selection of in-car voice applications. Using its software, drivers can send texts, access their navigation systems, make phonecalls and even access their digital music collections or the radio. Users can even receive texts, which are read by a voice program called “Samantha”. And all of this without taking a hand from the wheel.
