Mobile location-based advertising will be worth € 6.5 billion in 2017

April 10th 2013: According to a new research report from the analyst firm Berg Insight, the total value of the global real-time mobile location-based advertising and marketing (LBA) market will grow from €526 million in 2012 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 65 per cent to €6.5 billion in 2017. 28.3 % of mobile ad spend will be from location-based ads says Berg Insight
Rating: The LBA value chain is still forming
A new report from market watchers, Berg Insight, entitled ‘Location-Based Advertising and Marketing’ (see here) estimates that location-based advertising (LBA) will account for 28.3 per cent of mobile ad spend in 2016. That corresponds to a compound annual growth rate of 90.9 per cent, so the real-time LBA market should be worth €4.9 billion in 2016. The company reckons that in 2011 the total global value of the real-time mobile LBA market was €192 million, representing 5.0 per cent of the total mobile ad spend. Asia-Pacific is estimated to be the largest LBA market in 2016, followed by Europe and North America. Continue reading
China to overtake USA in M2M connexions
Rating: Berg Insight says M2M connexions reached 108 million in 2011
New research report from the leading Swedish analyst firm, Berg Insight, indicates that the global number of mobile network connexions used for wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) communication has increased cent in 2011 by 37 per to reach 108 million. The report says that Asia-Pacific was the strongest regional market. It reached 34.5 million connexions at the year-end and recorded a year-on-year growth rate of 64 per cent and. Both North America and Europe grew by around 27 per cent each to 32.3 million and 29.3 million connexions respectively. Continue reading

Location based revenues will double by 2016

Mobile location based service (LBS) revenues in Europe are forecast to grow from €205 million in 2010 to reach € 435 million in 2016, according to a new report published by Berg Insight. The company estimates that 20 per cent of all mobile subscribers in Europe already use some kind of location-enhanced application on a regular basis. Local search, social networking and navigation services are the top application categories in terms of number of users. Europe leads with mobile broadband connexions
Rating: Apparently they’re LTE and HSPA already says Berg
Recent research from Berg Insight claims that mobile broadband subscribers (or HSPA/LTE connected PCs as it claims) accounted for 17.3 per cent of all broadband connections in Europe by Q1 2010. Given that there are virtually no LTE terminals out there at present and HSPA is still not the majority this is a pretty intriguing figure. Continue reading
